2022 — A Project by Paadmaan

This work is based on a book titled Design and Color in Islamic Architecture, whose pages were gradually covered with black acrylic paint over the course of approximately one year.
Most of the pages have been almost entirely submerged in blackness, while in certain areas, fragments of image, color, or empty white space still remain—scattered traces of what once existed.
The process was centered on the repeated act of covering, a slow and continuous gesture through which each page moved between visibility and disappearance. Gradually, the book seems to shift from an object carrying image and information into a silent and compressed surface.
What remains is not simply an altered book, but a work that contains within itself the passage of time, repetition, and darkness.
